This thread is where you post a character once you've been made a Character of Influence, so that the stories we create on the server can be written, and people who join later in the server's life-span can be caught up. This will be a guide on how format your post. YOU CAN BE A CHARACTER OF INFLUENCE IN MORE THAN ONE STORY LINE
WHILE WE HAVE A LOW PLAYER COUNT, OR STORY LINES ARE JUST BEGINNING TO DEVELOP, CHARACTERS OF INFLUENCE WILL BE PLAYED BY ADMINISTRATORS OR CHOSEN PEOPLE, UNTIL OTHER CHARACTERS CAN BE DRAWN IN

Story lines can be started by ANYONE, provided you reach out to an administrator/moderator and have a discussion with us about it. Please, don't be afraid to come forward and ask us about starting a new story line, and don't be discouraged if some of your ideas are rejected, or some things need to be tailored to fit with other ongoing plots or lore.

=BACKSTORY GUIDE=
CHARACTER NAME:
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:

Character Backstory: (This backstory is not necessarily pertaining to your time before the invasion, more as to your life in the city, and with descriptive language while telling what, specifically, lead you to the moment that you were made a Character of Influence)

Character's importance to which story line: (A goal here is to name the story line that you're a part of, so that in the lore I can mention the threads, and the people involved, when telling the story. You don't necessarily need to say WHY you're important, just TO WHICH story line you are important)

The Story from your point of view: (This is where you explain the story as it's happened to you, so far, and explain what you've seen. Don't use knowledge your character doesn't have for this section, even if you as the player know it, and be sure to update this as things happen.)

CHARACTER NAME: Haley Bordner
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: |5'6|157 LBS|Hazel Eyes|Dirty Blue Jumpsuit|Dirty Brown Shoes|

Character Backstory:
Haley was a pretty average citizen, working the assigned cycles, taking her rations, and sitting in her apartment. She wasn't someone to go out of her way to report things, but she did keep to herself. She didn't make friends, go out, or involve herself in any extra-curricular activities. Till one day, she saw something unprecedented- one of the aliens, Vortigaunts she was sure she'd heard them be called before, left curiously alone in the plaza when the unit guarding it rushed after a man who had stolen food from the Cafe Baltic. Something in her boiled over. Maybe the months of dealing with oppression, beatings, and bland food. Maybe it was seeing the same dreary faces every day. Maybe it was the manual labor she was made to do after working so hard to make it to a desk job. But something changed. She found herself sprinting forward, and clutching the strange alien. They raced, together, through the plaza and made their way to the entrance of the one place she knew the CCA couldn't go: The sewers. But once they reached the border, the creature refused to enter, drawing his arm harshly from Haley's grasp. As she exasperatedly motioned for him to follow, and he made strange- seemingly explanatory- gestures, they both heard the same robotic voice.
"Freeze!". It was the unit that left the creature alone, and in his had was the long baton the officers used to incapacitate her fellow citizens when they were out of line (or were bored). The creature raised his arms, his four eyes opened wide. Haley sat, indecisive. Charging this unit was surely choosing to die. But giving up, going back to her hopelessness seemed like dying in a way, too. Stuck in her reverie, the impatient unit advanced, stun-stick crackling with malice. He gripped it with two hands, and swung- catching Haley in the chest. She crumpled to the ground, dazed as the creature's clawed hand clamped on the unit's shoulder and pulled. The unit, in a panic, swung the baton with all his strength; connecting solidly with the codpiece that the creature was imprisoned in. Then things happened quickly. A large shock erupted from the metal restraint, a flash of green light collided with the unit, an ear-splitting tone began emitting from the units combat harness, and the creature scooped Haley into it's arms as she began to lose consciousness.
For the next few months, Haley's life was a blur. She awoke on a small boat as it was being pulled to dock, surrounded by people wearing uniforms. She quickly embedded herself in this cell, and stayed outside the city. She could occasionally hear the sirens indicating a lock-down emanating from her city, and could only wonder what her former peers were going through because of her absence. After a time, and given that they had someone who actually knew the ins and outs of the city they were adjacent to, the cell wanted to insert her back into the city with a singular task: Assist in rebelling against the CCA by trafficking arms, armor, and food into the city. Haley agreed, ready to finally feel in control of her life.

CHARACTER NAME: Caleb Wolf

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: | 6'2 | Hazel Eyes | Messy Brown Hair | Dirty Denim Jumpsuit | Clean Brown Shoes |

Character Backstory: Quiet, unassuming, and ever searching for a way to fight against the new regime, Caleb Wolf spent much time unsuccessfully attempting to set up some form of anti-establishment collective in his city. Then, one day, after a particularly demoralizing attempt to hold a rally, he witnessed something that made his heart leap. A Vortigaunt, another of the Universal Union's slaves, was freed at the hands of what he could only assume was a rebel cell. He watched a woman disappear from the plaza with one in tow, and when he gave chase came upon a dead unit, still smoldering, lying close to the restrains that bound the Vort. He walked home that night on cloud nine, re-invigorated with a new purpose; Find the woman who freed that Vortigaunt. Months of searching did little to dull his vigor, picking through the rubble of the closed districts until he returned home empty handed in the early morning. Finally, though, as he made his way down to the slums, he noticed a light on in the Grizzly Grotto. He entered, shocked to find the very woman standing behind the counter.

He explained everything. How he watched her free the Vortigaunt, knew she had killed the Unit, how he had been looking for her since. He was astounded to find out that she wasn't a part of some movement- and that there wasn't one in his city. As he returned home dejected that day he thought everything through, and landed on a final conclusion: If the rebels weren't in his city, his best chance at getting something put together was with her help. After all she knew that Vortigaunt, and had somehow managed to evade not just the CCA for months, but him as well. The next night he entered the Grotto with a plan- only to find it empty. It stayed that way for several days more, with Caleb spending most of his spare time there waiting for her return. When they met again, she was entering the darkened bar carrying a box, the vortigaunt a few steps behind her doing the same. She flipped the lights on in the bar at the same time Caleb cleared his throat to announce himself. This was quickly met by the sound of the boxes crashing to the floor, bottles clinking and shattering inside, and the drawing of a pistol from the stranger. Caleb's hands shot up quickly, as he proclaimed himself unarmed and alone. She still did not trust him with her name, but after a drink and conversation, she asked him to meet her back at the grotto in three days time.

From that meeting forward, Caleb was finding himself minding the bar when she was mysteriously gone for stretches at time, and the Grotto's clientele grew, with the bar serving contraband liquor and foods.

CHARACTER NAME: CCA-C17I.JUDGE.02.59189
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: 5'10 | 164 LBS | Vo-coded American Accent | Pristine Mask, and Uniform | Uniform Designatable as JUDGE.

Character Backstory: 59189 became a steadfast follower of the combine invasion shortly after they took control. Rapidly moving to join in the CCA in an attempt to further himself in the hierarchy, as well as stamp out those deemed rebellious. In his mindset, the combine would be more willing to allow freedom to the people of earth, if everyone listened to what they said, and didn't show any resistance. He eventually joined the JUDGE division, after a recommendation from an officer after they noticed his loyalty, and inquisitive personality. After joining, he conducted investigations and a couple raids on locations considered to be important to rebel groups, but without much recognition, or results coming from them. Despite his failures, he continued to strive to impress his superiors, and catch someone of great importance that the administration had been looking for. In particular, Haley Bordner. Noticing that she was the most wanted individual in the city, he set it in his mind that he should be the one to catch her, and that doing so would lead to his aspirations being fulfilled. Multiple times he encountered her, only for them to slip through his fingers at the last moment. One day, after a tip from a civilian named "Edgar Romeo" he conducted a raid on the Grizzly Grotto with two OfCs, detaining multiple citizens, and moving them for interrogation. Most of them were perfectly clean, while one, Naomi Kirugi, escaped from the nexus with the help of Haley. After this incident, he regularly checked on the Grotto, seeing if anyone would be there, but to no success. After a couple run ins with Haley in the sewers, he ran into her, a rebel sympathizer, and Caleb Wolf, inside of the Grotto. In a show of rather stupid confidence, he began firing at the three, managing to wound Haley, as well as Caleb, and kill the sympathizer. Haley and Caleb managed to escape, yet he still managed to kill a rebel, returning them to the nexus, and informing his superiors about the run in. Soon receiving a promotion to 02.
